In 2025, UNIQLO launched the UT x Studio Ghibli collection through a series of experiential activations celebrating the care, artistry, and emotional storytelling shared by both brands.
The launch began with an intimate VIP dinner honoring Studio Ghibli’s hand-drawn craft and nostalgic imagery. In collaboration with food stylist Thu Buser, the menu reimagined the iconic “No Face Feast” from Spirited Away. Guests enjoyed specialty cocktails inspired by the films, a Studio Ghibli inspired clothesline installation featuring pieces from the UT collection, and a live performance by a Studio Ghibli cover band that brought the world of the films to life.
The second phase took place at Brain Dead Studios in Fairfax, Los Angeles. Customers who purchased the UNIQLO x Studio Ghibli UT collection at select LA stores received access to book one of three public film screenings, followed by a final VIP screening of Spirited Away. Guests enjoyed a konbini inspired snack experience with curated bento boxes, fruit sandos, and rice balls, alongside interactive programming including a build your own phone charm station featuring film inspired charms.
VIP guests across both events received custom mailed invitations that included a piece from the collection packaged inside a branded bento box, extending the storytelling of the launch beyond the event itself.
